Youth Program (Ages 8-12)
The NewPsych Adolescent Program is a comprehensive TEEN after-school program committed to supporting our next generation with comprehensive mental health and behavioral care.
Our intensive 6-8 week program provides teens facing anxiety, depression, defiance, anger, self-harm, mood disorders, and substance abuse issues with tangible skills to improve their ability to function academically, socially and within their own family dynamics.
We're committed to working with you, along with your parents and our team of licensed experts to ensure that every teen succeeds. We even collaborate with schools and provide onsite instruction through our Partial Care Day Program.
Together, we can arm them with appropriate coping skills to manage their mental health symptoms, help prevent any relapses in progress and enter this brand new school year with confidence.
How Does It Work?
NewPsych follows a uniquely focused two-track approach to reach teens: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and general mental health. Each receives individual and group treatment as well as time with a medical provider.
The NewPsych Adolescent Program also recognizes that teens learn and grow through engagement and fun so we offer art, music therapy and other creative skills-based interactions.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a structured therapeutic treatment that emphasizes balance between acceptance and change.
The core skills of DBT are mindfulness-based, teaching clients how to increase awareness by noticing thoughts, feelings, and body sensations, and then strengthening attention back to the present moment.
The program provides teens with the support and skills to build a life worth living as they learn how to tolerate distress, bear pain skillfully, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships..
